Whether you are growing your hair or improving your hair condition, protective hairstyles can be worn to shield your hair from excessive combing and styling that may cause unnecessary damage. However, in doing so, keeping your hair properly moisturized is the key to growth and healthier hair.
Protective styles include things like wigs, buns, braids and twists just to name a few. There are a ton of protective styles to choose from. The best way to know what style is best for you is to understand how well your hair can handle.
For example, while braids encourage growth in most people, they can also cause extreme breakage in some. Also, while pulling your hair into a simple bun or ponytail often is easy to maintain, the stress may cause breakage, especially from the edges. Please be aware of the level of stress that your roots can handle and ease the tension of the pull from your scalp accordingly. It is not necessary that braids and ponytails be extremely tight in order to maintain the quality of being neat.
Always clean and condition your hair before installing a protective style to avoid particle build up that can cause additional breakage.
Saturate your hair with the N33 Restorative Oil of your choice. More oil can be used with braid styles while less oil can be used with natural ponytails and buns.
Remember to continuously moisturize your hair and scalp under your protective style on a daily basis if able. This will help the nutrients penetrate your stresses and scalp to improve its overall condition.
When removing your protective style, it is important to be gentle with your hair and scalp. Do not tug or pull on your hair. Be sure to re-moisturize your hair with the N33 Restorative Oil to ensure that you do not damage your hair or scalp. Once moisturized, gently take down your hair and gently comb or brush out any buildup that may have accumulated. Water and conditioner may be added to help break down particles.
Notice the improved condition of your hair and measure your growth. Please take pics and share with love.
